Davey D: For people who aren't familiar, tell us what was Grandmaster Flash's legacy in Hip Hop? What were you best known for within the early days of Hip Hop?

GM Flash: As an individual I was known as the DJ or the mixer. I was known for taking a particular passage of music and rearranging it. I called it the quick mix theory. It consisted of backspinning, the double back, cutting and scratching. I was also the first DJ to be known for doing acrobatics on the turntables. I would do 360 turns, cutting with my elbows, my mouth and crazy stuff like that

Interview with Dani Banga on Music, Fashion, and What's Next.

Q: When did you realize music was for you?

DANI B: I realized music was for me when I was a little kid, I have so many home videos of me rapping old school tupac and tlc songs, wishing I could be in their shoes...so I've pretty much loved music my whole life.

Q: What’s the difference between Nicki Minaj and lil kim?

DANI B: The difference between Nicki Minaj and Lil'kim to me is that Kim was a bit more sexual and a bit more underground, Nicki is sexy but playful and is more mainstream loved than Kim, but they're both great MCs that's for sure.


Q: As a rap artist is it important to you to know how to freestyle or just lay down hot tracks?

DANI B: As a rap artist I believe its important to know the art of freestyling, but I don't believe its a necessary skill to become a successful artist. Being able to storytell and have ur listeners visualize wat the song is really about is more important to me. But don't get me wrong I respect tho who really can freestyle that's a dope skill.

Q: If you could describe your style In 8 bars what would it be?

DANI B: my name is Dani and I'm a fashionista/ I should be on runways like top model EVA/beyonce of this rap shit I'm killin ya speakers/and I always rock the crowd like I rock new sneakers/but I'm a boss I resemble miss ross/so step up supremes or get ya ass tossed/at any cost imma stunt even if I'm broke/laughin at u weak hoes ya career is a joke/

Q: What’s next for Dani Banga?

DANI B: I'm all about progression and power moves so you'll definitely see me making major moves in 2010. Also I'm going to drop my mixtape 'Welcome To My "Reality"' soon and it'll definitely create a buzz I have an amazing team that supports me.


Q: Being that fashion is a big part in your image as a female rap artist do you plan on having your own stylist?

Q: What’s the first song you ever memorized?

CALI: Ok, wow, you really went back with that one! The first song I ever memorized was “Shoop” by Salt n Peppa… word for word including ad libs.

Q: When did you fall in love with music?

CALI: Well, I sang in church from the young age of four, but the first time I heard Brandy “I Wanna Be Down”, THAT, was when I fell in love with music.

Q: Do you think this music business will get better in 2010?

CALI: Hmmm, it’s kinda hard to say, I will say yes though. I feel like people are starting to get back to REAL music. Instruments, harmonies, lyrics with meaning, this will change the direction in which the artists and labels direct projects, therefore targeting more of the general population, not just certain groups. This along with the advances in technology that make music more attainable to the public will make music business better in 2010.

Q: What is the most important part of working with a group?

CALI: As an artist I feel it is important to be able to hold a stage alone, but, being in a group to me makes everything more rewarding to me. I am able to share all of the good and bad experiences with my sisters! We have a support system, and anytime one person needs help or falls short the other two are right there to help u up… only in a group!!

Q: Being from Cali the Sunshine state it’s obligated that you name four Tupac song?

CALI: Are u serious?!! U should’ve asked for ten! “Dear Mama” “I Get Around” “Hail Mary” and my ultimate fav “Hit Em Up!”

Q: Musically in your opinion who has the game on lock right now?

CALI: As far as the hip-hop scene Young Money has the game on lock in every way, They have something for every listener, every age rage, male or female with a living legend backing them, what more could u ask for in one album?

Q: Where do you see Bliss 5 years from now?

CALI: In 5 years hopefully you will see BLISS everywhere! Emmy’s, Grammy’s, T.V. , clothing lines, perfumes, Any way you can make, money while marketing ourselves, we will get it! We are 3 Females, together, with After Hours Enterprises, building one strong Empire.
