Interview with Rap Artist L.M. on his new Mixtape Tilted "RAW"

This is a must Hear/Have No Sleeping on L.M.'s new Mixtape "RAW" Download Link is just a click away and the end of the Interview.

Q: What makes "RAW" different from all the other mixtapes that are dropping daily?

L.M.:Well for starters, alot of music that's coming out today is not music that the average joe can relate to. Im just an everyday dude from around the way speaking from an average persons stand point and I think my music reflects that. I want people to not only be able to connect with me as an artist, but as a person. I speak on various topics whether it be love, hate, the struggle, politics etc. These are all things that everybody can relate to one way or another. Even if you cant relate to every song, I'm almost positive that there will be at least that one record that you can maybe relate to.

Q: I had a Chance to listen to a couple tracks from your new mixtape and I am really feeling "Hustla Named Johnny", what is the inspiration behind that joint?

L.M.:Appreciate that. Well to be honest, "Hustla Named Johnny" is me. But not only is it me, it millions of black males around the world experiencing the exact same things and feeling the exact same way. I remember when I first heard the beat I was actually sitting at home watching the movie Higher Learning, and in that movie one quote in particular stuck with me in my head. The quote was "How does is feel to know that even if you graduate college you still may not be able to get a job because of the color of your skin?" That inspired me to take my personal situation and how I was feeling at the time and mix it with a little bit of what transpired in the movie and that's pretty much how I came up with that record.

Q: As a rap artist can you see yourself being mainstream, or would you prefer being underground?

L.M.:When the time is right I can definitely see myself being a mainstream artist. However I feel like my ultimate success wont be determined on how many records I sell, but rather how man people I can inspire and touch through my music. Behind that within a matter of time everything else is due to fall into place.

Q: For artists that are just getting started do you have any advice for them on how to get there music heard by DJ's or potential fans?

L.M.:The Internet has been very powerful tool for the past I would say four years, but the game looks as if its once again shifting away from that so you really have to do ground work and show face along side that. I think DJ's and fans actually want to support you more when they physically see you out here grinding. If your doing that then they have to eventually hear about you one way or another.

Q: What is next for you after you drop this mixtape? Will there be any shows coming up?

L.M.:Yeah I'm planning to do a Promo Tour this summer and hit a couple different cities across the country in attempt to gain new fans. Besides that, I'm going right back to work on my next project and just try to feed off the energy I'm getting from the positive feedback from the RAW mixtape. Just keep on working and try to perfect my craft.

Music = Life

Music has been and always will be the biggest part in my life. With out the creative lyrics and the Melodic tunes this thing called living would be pointless. I love to see new artists still have that same passion and drive for the art of music.

Just a Couple Songs that Keeps Me Motivated-

"A Tribe Called Quest- Electric Relaxation"

"Common Sense- I Used to Love Her"

"Kanye West- All Falls Down"

"Whitney Houston- I Wanna Dance With Somebody"
