Interview With Pop/Rock Singer Corey Jarell

Exciting, different, and unexpected are the right words to describe Corey Jarell. Born and raised in Hartford, CT into a musical family(his mother and uncle Producer/composer Yahsa Barjona were members of the early 90's gospel group "Kingdom" who were well known for their song "Fully Committed".

At the age of 13 Corey relocated with his mother to Reynoldsburg, Ohio a suburb right outside of Columbus, Ohio where he would later express to his uncle that he wanted to pursue a singing career.

At a very young age Corey was very versatile with his talents and also very involved with his church, singing in the youth choir and later on teaching himself how to play the bass guitar so he can play for his church.

Clearly destined to become a star, Corey entered a contest organized by Chris Stokes (responsible for the likes of B2k, Marcus Houston, and Omarion) called “I Wanna Be A Star” through YouTube. He won by a landslide receiving millions of votes from fans all over the world that loved his original sound.

The same year Corey would then meet his manager Sheridan Gilbert(a former night club owner) after being approached by a friend that he should check Corey out. Instantly after hearing Corey's music Sheridan knew this was something he wanted to be apart of.

With no hesitation Corey was on plane heading to Atlanta, Ga to work along side up coming producer Jay Reid and writer Amir Cuyler for a year where they were constantly in the studio day and night creating a unique sound of alternative pop/rock. Despite his R&B roots Corey felt this was the genre he's grown to loved and be very passionate about.

Corey released his first single "Fallin For U" (co-written by Sharif Colbert) on Hitzradio.com, a Top 40 online radio station where Corey was the first unsigned artist to not only be on the station but to appear in the number one spot for nearly five weeks straight above the likes of Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Rihanna and a host of other big name artist.

With performances at numerous sold-out shows under his belt, Corey has an extraordinary drive to be the best at whatever he puts his mind to and he is headed for a long and illustrious career as an artist.
